Seb Madgwick has been working with Imogen Heap and the gloves team for over a year now and the last night saw the glove’s UK television debut on BBC2.  Imogen appeared on Dara O Briain’s Science Club to demo the gloves and give a brief performance of her song written with the gloves, Me The Machine.  Unfortunately, the time limitations of the show meant that the performance was heavily edited.  A less edited version of this performance is available on BBC iPlayer.

The gloves use five modified x-IMUs and a networking hub developed by x-io to stream sensor data wirelessly to a powerful computer and audio rack (collectively known as “the brain”) which runs a host of software developed by the gloves team.  The gloves project is still moving forward and we have big plans for 2013, including going open-source.  The project doesn’t have its own website just yet but plenty information about the project is available on Plusea’s blog (part of the glove team).
